By convention only a set of fractions are used in fractional odds betting markets. The set does not include exact mathematical equivalents to all possible decimal and American odds. We use the closet fraction that is used in betting markets.
Decimal odds conversion to percentage. Decimal odds are a simple reflection of the return you will receive for each single unit placed. In other words, odds of 1.65 means that for every 1.00 you place on a particular outcome, you will receive a profit of 0.65 should that outcome prevail.
- If you stake £1 on a horse, then you stand to win £4 if the selection wins the race, which excludes your initial stake. In contrast, the decimal format factors in the initial stake. Betting odds of 4/1 would equate to 5.0 in decimal terms, 5/1 would be 6.0, and so forth. See the chart below for a breakdown of betting odds in both fractional and decimal format, showing forecasted returns to £5 level stakes for the key.
- Convert a fraction odd into a decimal odd by dividing the first number (the numerator), by the second number (the denominator), and adding 1. Equation: (numerator/denominator) + 1 = decimal odds Example: 6/5 is equal to 2.20. This equals 1.20.
- How to read sports betting odds. First of all, we must think in terms of probabilities and not just abstract numbers. Let's try an example. The EPL derby between Manchester City and Manchester United has the following set of decimal odds: 1 (2.00) – X (3.60) – 2 (4.00).All we need to do, is divide 100 with each odd (100/2=50, 100/3.6=27.7, 100/4=25).
What Is 5/6 In Decimal

(decimal-1) -> convert to fraction
Examples:
1.75: 1.75 – 1 = .75 = 75/100 = 3/4
2.20: 2.20 – 1 = 1.20 = 120/100 = 6/5
2.20: 2.20 – 1 = 1.20 = 120/100 = 6/5
Decimal to American
To convert a decimal of 2.00 or higher:
moneyline = (decimal – 1) *100
Examples:
2.00: (2.00 – 1)*100 = 1*100 = +100
3.35: (3.35 – 1)*100 = 2.35*100 = +235
3.35: (3.35 – 1)*100 = 2.35*100 = +235
To convert a decimal of less than 2.00:
moneyline = (-100) / (decimal -1)
Examples:
1.9091 : (-100)/(1.9091 – 1) = (-100)/(0.9091) = -109.99 = -110
1.6579 : (-100)/(1.6579 – 1) = (-100)/(0.6579) = -151.98 = -152
1.6579 : (-100)/(1.6579 – 1) = (-100)/(0.6579) = -151.98 = -152
Fractional to American
Over 1/1: Convert Fraction to Decimal and multiply by 100.
Moneyline = (fraction value)*100
Examples:
7/4: (7/4) * 100 = (1.40) * 100 = +140
6/5: (6/5) * 100 = (1.20) * 100 = +120
6/5: (6/5) * 100 = (1.20) * 100 = +120
Under 1/1: divide -100 by the Fraction as a Decimal.
Moneyline = -100/(fraction value)
Examples:
1/4: -100/(1/4) = -100/.25 = -400
1/10: -100/(1/10) = -100/.1 = -1000
1/10: -100/(1/10) = -100/.1 = -1000
Fractional to Decimal
Convert the fraction to a decimal and add one.
Examples:
3/4: (3/4) + 1 = (.75) + 1 = 1.75
6/5: (6/5) + 1 = (1.20) + 1 = 2.20
6/5: (6/5) + 1 = (1.20) + 1 = 2.20
